Cycling Print E-mail

Following joint discussions with the Jagonari Women’s Centre and the London Cycling Campaign (LCC), we launched a new cycling project at CFGS. The LCC provided us with £5,000 from transport for London, which has enabled us to buy 20 new bicycles and to pay for some of our teachers to train as cycling instructors. The Transport for London (TfL) grant is part of a £150,000 scheme to help encourage communities who do not use bikes to take up the activity.

Eighty students and relatives signed up.  The community grant is giving our students and members of the local community the opportunity to experience the benefits of cycling - for their health, the environment and for the independence and sheer joy cycling gives. Although participation tailed off with the dark winter evenings, the club is up and running again, thanks to Siw Thomas, teacher responsible for promoting cycling.

For more details, please speak to Ms Thomas.
