Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Business Print E-mail

Business Course: 1 year – Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma 2 year – Level 3 BTEC
Diploma or Extended Diploma. Subsidiary Diploma equivalent to 1 A Level Diploma equivalent to 2 A Levels Extended Diploma equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Exam Board: Edexcel.

Minimum subject specific entry: 4 GCSE grades A* - C including Maths or English (or ALAN Level 2) Or Merit or Distinction from a Level 2 course - Plus grade C in Maths or English.

Course Content:

All students will study 6 units for the Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma during Year 1, and a further 6 for the Diploma or 12 for the Extended Diploma during Year 2. In order to progress onto the second year of the course you must achieve at least a Merit in Year 1. Of the 6 units you will study, they include the compulsory units:

Unit 1 Exploring business activity: Different types of business activity and ownership, business aims and objectives.

Unit 2 Investigating business resources: how resources are managed, why they are managed and how to access sources of finance.

Unit 3 Introduction to marketing: the principles and key concepts of marketing, how marketing can increase demand for goods and services.

All other units will be decided by the department and announced at the beginning of the course.

Assessment:

This course is coursework only and there are no exams. All coursework is marked internally and externally.This course will suit you enjoy researching independently or in groups and prefer course work to examinations and have an interest in Business.

Progression:

The Level 3 BTEC courses are valued by both employers and universities. You may progress onto degrees in subjects such as Management, Finance, Human Resources or Marketing, or directly into employment in these areas leading to professional qualifications as offered by the Chartered Institutes of Marketing, Management Accounts or Personal Development.
