Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care Print E-mail

Course:

1 year – Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma
2 year – Level 3 BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma.

Subsidiary Diploma equivalent to 1 A Level Diploma equivalent to 2 A Levels Extended Diploma equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Exam Board: Edexcel.

Minimum subject specific entry requirements: 4 GCSE grades A* - C including Maths or English Or Merit or Distinction from a Level 2 course - Plus grade C or equivalent in Maths or English.

Course Content:

All students will study 6 units for the Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma during Year 1, and a further 6 for the Diploma or 12 for the Extended Diploma during Year 2.

Of the units you will study, they include the following:

Unit 1: Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
This is a core unit in which you will learn about ways to communicate and recognise the fact that effective communication is central to all work in the health and social care sectors.

Unit 4: Development Through the Life Stages
You will examine the ageing process, the effects of genetic and biological factors on life expectancy and the differences between the genders.

Unit 23: Complementary Therapies
Health and social care professionals need to understand the potential range of complementary therapies and how they may be used in supporting conventional and orthodox medicine.

Assessment:

The course is coursework only there are no exams; coursework is marked internally and moderated externally. This course will suit you If you enjoy working independently and have an interested in a health or social career.

Teaching methods:

A variety of teaching methods are used, role-plays, discussions.

Progression:
The Level 3 BTEC courses are valued by both employers and universities. On successful completion of a Level 3 BTEC qualification you can progress to employment or a degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Early Childhood Studies, and Primary Teaching.
