Course Content:

Entry Level is a one year course that acts as a bridge between Year 11 and further
study or work. It is designed to meet the requirements of students who need further support before taking level 1 courses. You are likely to take a selectionm of modules from the list below:

• Adult Literacy
• Numeracy
• ICT
• Communication
• Personal Skills
• Art and Design
• Introduction to vocational studies in:
• Care
• Office Practice
• Performing Arts/Media Studies
• ESOL for Schools (TBC)

Assessment:

The National Skills Profile is assessed through externally moderated coursework. Other areas of coursework are assessed through examination. This course will suit you if you need further support before taking a Level 1 course. Students new to English also have the opportunity to improve their speaking skills.

Teaching methods:

Throughout the course the emphasis is on encouraging independent learning through the use of discussion, independent study and assessments. You will also complete a two week, off-site work experience placement.

Progression:

On successful completion of all the areas of study you will have accreditation for your work that you can use to apply for Level 1 courses. You will also have evidence of improved skills for employment.
