Training, Motivating and Inspiring PE PGCE Students in how to successfully deliver dance in the KS3 curriculum.

  • 3 workshops delivered in October, November and March 2008 on teaching dance at KS3 to 22 PE PGCE students from Middlesex university.
  • Exemplary units and resources provided were found to be extrememly supportive, informative and relative to their teaching.
  • Most students expressed they were confident and excited to teach dance after workshops.
  • All students rated the workshops good or better.

"Sarah is an exemplary practitioner and not only teaches the PGCE Physical Education trainees dance, but she also involves them in the process of how to deliver dance lessons...she has supplied them with much supporting materials that will make their delivery of Dance in secondary schools much more proficient" (Head of PE, Middlesex University).

"All students have informed me that they have resources which are particularly supportive, especially the unit of work you provided" (Head of PE, Middlesex University).

"A PGCE student has told me he is now confident enough to teach dance in his new school. This would not have been the case of he had not experienced your workshops. He said he likes it so much that sometimes he teaches in the corridor rather than not give the pupils a lesson at all!" (Head of PE, Middlesex University).

"I really feel more confident now in teaching dance and am more prepared to give it a go" (George Carrington, Middlesex University).

"Thank you so much for yesterday. It has really made it a lot clearer for me especially next year...and year 11 will now be able to get a revision pack" (Alicia Fisher, Middlesex University).
