Overseas Trained Teachers Print E-mail

img_3816Overseas Trained Teachers at Central Foundation Girls' School make an important contribution to the experience and cultural diversity of our school. As a multi-cultural inner city school we welcome teachers and support staff of all nationalities. The Continuing Professional Development team has taken the lead in training and mentoring Overseas Trained Teachers to achieve full UK Qualified Teacher Status for 6 years.

Frequently, our OTTs have considerable teaching experience outside the United Kingdom. The CPD team strike an effective balance between utilising that experience and harnessing it effectively towards the needs of teaching in Inner City London. What is unique about our OTTs is the high quality contribution they make to the quality of teaching and learning.

Overseas Trained Teachers seeking Qualified Teacher Status can be assured of:

  • A School based CPD Mentor to guide them through their Individualised Training Plan and advise on whole school orientation and integration.
  • A Subject Mentor to develop subject expertise and knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • A Partnership Higher Education Tutor to work with the school in identifying training needs and ensure successful completion of QTS.
  • Access to first-hand advice from other OTTS experienced and qualified according to UK requirements.
