Yr11 CFGS Students are Inspired to Aspire with Twilight Actress, Judi Shekoni
Actress Judi Shekoni of Twilight fame gave a rousing motivational speech about how she created the career and life that she has at Central Foundation Girls’ School’s (CFGS) Year 11 Inspiration Day.
Judi shared how she had a dream to be an actress from a young age. It was this desire for acting, and belief that this was her calling, convinced Judi to follow this path and make it a reality. Firstly, by moving from Manchester to London after her A levels and landing a hard fought role in EastEnders. To buying a one way ticket to California, America, where she set the intention of wanting to star in the film Twilight and persevered in landing the role of Zafrina.
Judi intimated to the students how important it is to dream, trust your instincts, make a decision about what you want; follow through with action and ‘make sure you have the right people around you.’ Judi ended her talk with a Q&A session and stressed to the students the importance of having the right mentality as key to success. As she said:
“The biggest thing for me is mentality. My mentality to believe in myself and take risks and if I had a dream to grow it.”
The Year 11 Aspiration Day was led by Naomi Harrigan, Head of Year who kicked off with a state of the nation talk on preparing for exam success.
