Mental Health Awareness Week at Central Foundation

Mental Health Awareness Week is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation.   It took place from 13 to 19 May 2019. The theme this year was on Body Image – how we think and feel about our bodies.

In support of this week, Central Foundation Girls’ School ran a series of events to educate, inform and get students involved in mental health wellbeing.   Activities ranged from a film screening of the film ‘Everything, Everything’ about a teenage American girl’s life with the disease SKID, to physical activities such as walk a mile in your lunchtime challenge, drama and dance performances and timely exam stress buster exercises such as a yoga taster and mindfulness sessions to calm the mind. Students also got to sit by the tree of mental wellness in the school library as a tranquil spot.  Overall, each day gave students the opportunity to learn about and get involved with the principles and practices known for promoting and maintaining good mental health wellbeing i.e. connect, get active, be mindful, keep learning and give to others.
