Careers and Work-Related Learning
At CFGS Sixth Form we provide all Sixth Form students with a range of opportunities and support to help each student to identify a career path and how to begin their journey beyond school. All participate in a practice job interview, followed up by verbal coaching and written feedback; attend a range of UCAS events including sessions on how to write your personal statement; and conduct work experience.
There are also a number of optional activities which students can sign up for, including business mentoring programmes with firms such as KPMG; support programmes for those students interested in applying to Russell Group or Oxbridge universities; and bespoke careers guidance interviews. In addition to this students are mentored through The Access Project and The Girls’ Network, both of which match students to their career pathways for the duration of Sixth Form.
We have a good careers library and offer a number of curriculum related visits to different workplaces and students have access to our Careers and Aspirations Manager, who is on site daily.
Together this all helps students’ to increase their understanding of what career and job opportunities are available and how to successfully access these opportunities.
