Our School

As a large, oversubscribed, and inclusive 11-18 girls' school in the heart of London, Central Foundation Girls’ School is an exciting place to work and learn. Visitors often comment on the happy atmosphere of the school, and we take pride in our community spirit.

In the words of Ofsted, November 2021:

‘Teachers and pupils show respect for each other. This creates a calm and harmonious feeling around the school. Teachers believe that all pupils should have access to opportunities outside lessons. The offer for pupils’ wider development is extensive.’               'Pupils appreciate the advice that teachers give them. It helps to improve their work. Sixth-form students also value how teachers support them with their learning. They teach students how to be independent learners.'‘Pupils’ behaviour is excellent. Teachers encourage pupils to have opinions and debate topical issues. They create a safe environment in class where pupils can share their thoughts and feelings. Leaders listen to pupils’ opinions about the school and act on them.'

Central girls not only work together, they delight in the achievement of others as well as their own.

Our results demonstrate that we are consistently improving, with students achieving high grades each year at GCSE and in Post-16 studies. Our results place the school amongst some top providers in the country for attainment and progress at both GCSE and Sixth Form studies.  The energy, determination and professionalism of the teaching and support staff, who strive to provide the students with the opportunities to succeed and to become well educated and confident young women, is a major factor in the school’s achievements to date.
