Year 6 - 7 Transition: Drama
There is always something exciting and fun going on around the Drama department – we can’t wait to meet you all and see you getting involved!
Drama at CFGS covers a wide range of performance styles and creative endeavours.
In Year 7 you begin exploring the basics of Drama and learn about the key classic dramatic styles pre-modern Drama, developing a range of scripted and devised performances. Later in the year you will develop and perform your own famous monologue for stage or screen; a radio play; and a physical theatre ensemble piece.
You will have opportunities to perform outside of the classroom in Year 7 Drama club, Performing Arts Showcases and Whole school productions. You will be able to sign up for Year 7 Drama club in your drama lessons or at the Drama office during lunchtimes.
The Drama department has three purpose built black box Drama studios equipped with theatre lighting, sound and audio-visual projectors. We also have use of the David Sharpe Theatre for larger scale productions.
We have several professional working relationships with fantastic theatre companies and organisations and this means we have frequent opportunities to view live theatre and even be involved in workshops and projects with professional theatre makers.
