Year 8 is a time to consolidate the learning that took place in Year 7 and take the first steps in gaining experiences and skills which will be valuable for your school career now and in the future. These experiences and skills will also act as the foundations for your future career beyond CFGS.
Being in Year 8 isn’t the same as being in Year 7 because you start to learn about yourself and others in the Year group. I think Year 8 is better than Year 7 because we are given more opportunities to take on roles of responsibility in school and you have the chance to be involved in lots of initiatives and activities. - Year 8 student
To support and track Year 8 students as they develop the skills needed to make positive contributions to the school and wider community, CFGS have developed the 21st Century Skills programme. The programme aims to highlight 6 key areas, then facilitate students to provide evidence to show they have demonstrated these key skills.
Year 8 students at CFGS get their first experience of making guided choices about their learning. Students have the opportunity to select subjects in Performing Arts and Design Technology that they wish to study in more depth in Year 9. This process supports the larger GCSE guided choices that takes place in Year 9.
